There is a lot to do in Cincinnati, but it’s good to break out of your comfort zone! Taking a one-tank trip to somewhere new and different can be the best way to reignite the flame. For this month’s one-tank trip, we take you on a journey through Adams County.

Where to eat:

For a fine ding experience, check out Moyer Winery & Restaurant. Located in the heart of the Ohio River Valley, Moyer offers a breathtaking view of the river while you wine and dine your date. The menu lists items from seafood to chicken to beef. There also a selection of wines, including the Oh my-Sangria!, which is made in house daily.

A unique dinner can take place at the Olde Wayside Inn. If you’re looking for some good comfort food, you can find it here!

Other places to eat:

Dine in an old-fashioned ’50s diner at Cruisers Diner! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and also feature outdoor dining and take out.

If you’re looking for a good pick-me-up, check out The Greene Beanery Coffee Roastery. Featuring a wide selection of coffee beans, they have fresh-roasted coffee with eight different origins. They also offer Amish homemade pastries and homemade soups and sandwiches. You also can purchase a bag of beans to take home!

Blake Pharmacy takes you back in time and serves Coke from a soda fountain for 5 cents, just like they did in 1961. They also have sandwiches and milkshakes.

What to do:

Experience the Amish Country with bakeries, furniture stores and other shops. You’ll spot buggies and horses while you take a walk down Wheat Ridge Road. The Amish has grown since 1976, and now has more than 95 households.

You might have heard of the Serpent Mound. It’s located in Adams County in a large park, and it’s actually an effigy mound for the burial of three indigenous people. The Serpent Mound has lunar, solar, planetary and celestial alignments. It marks all the solstices and equinoxes by lunar or solar alignments, or both!

For the antique hunter, there are several antique shops located in Adams County. As It Was In The Beginning features different antiques, toys and collectibles located in the Amish Country. If you want to expand your stay at the antique shop, check out The Rooster’s Nest Bed and Breakfast & Antiques. It’s an amazing getaway with four rooms furnished with antiques that are for sale!

Where to stay

Cozy Hideaway is a great place to help you get away from it all! They have a newly renovated cabin and hunting ground. It’s also pet friendly, so feel free to bring your furry friends along with you.

Hopewell Croft is another neat cabin. This one is more modern with a well-equipped kitchen. It is pet friendly and offers trails and streams nearby. It can sleep eight people, which makes it a great spot for a group getaway!

Another great option is the rustic and romantic Behm Mountain Cabin. This cabin has been reconstructed from the original stones and hand-hewn logs of several historic structures. Some of these structures were originally built more than 100 years ago. It is complete with a full kitchen, fireplace and television. There also is a fire pit outside.

Another B&B that is great to check out is the Dogwood Farm Bed & Breakfast. This B&B offers your choice of three spacious rooms. There is a yummy three-course breakfast meal or an afternoon meal served for hunters. It is located on 60 acres with abundant wildlife and walking trails.
