For your next date night, seek a little adventure! I’m not talking climbing a mountain or jumping out of a plane, I’m talking a canoe ride down the scenic Little Miami River.
Dirk and Lori Morgan, canoe experts and the power couple behind Morgan’s Canoe have teamed up with Valley Vineyards in Morrow to lead as many as 100 guests down the Little Miami every Thursday evening through Oct. 5.
This romantic canoe float is great for couples of all ages looking for a little adventure without having to break a sweat.
My boyfriend and I arrived to Valley Vineyards excited for the evening ahead of us. It had rained all day, but the sun soon exploded behind the clouds just in the nick of time. We were given dinner and drink tickets and headed straight for the bar for the highly recommended sangria and raspberry wine while couples and groups of friends arrived for the event.
Come 6:15 p.m., we all boarded the Morgan’s Canoe buses for a quick ride up the Little Miami River.
After a brief safety demo, we headed down the river at our own speed.
“It’s not a race,” by any means, according to Dirk Morgan. Some couples fly down the river, while others float casually.
Once the canoe ride is over, the group boards the buses back to Valley Vineyards for a steak and salmon buffet-style dinner with all the fixings: salads, corn on the cob, fresh baked potatoes and, of course, dessert.
After we picked out our steaks, we found a spot on the grill and summoned our inner grill master. We seasoned and cooked our meat to our liking and chatted with other couples.
For dinner we sat inside at our own intimate table and listened to Them Bones, the live music for the evening.
Dirk and Lori captured photos of the entire night and posted them to Facebook so we had pictures to share from such a fun evening.
The Twilight Canoe Dinner season runs through October 5 this year, and the fun will resume again in May 2018.
